Currently a Professor at the Indian Institute of Science,Bangalore in India, she is a high energy phenomenologist. Phenomenologists have an important role to play in collider physics as they participate crucially in designing strategies to extract information from the data about the interactions governing the results of the collisions processes. She has mainly worked on two separate aspects. She has pointed out new processes that could be studied at  and  colliders, to understand some intricate features of the interactions of high energy photons as well as to study the internal spin structure of the proton. The former work has had implications for design of linear electron-positron colliders. Secondly she has developed strategies for the collider studies of new particles like the top quark, the higgs boson, the supersymmetric partners of the Standard Model(SM) particles etc., for determining their properties and for probing many ideas of physics beyond the SM using those measurements. Notable has been her work in studying top polarisation, as well as studying the CP nature of the Higgs boson and looking for an ’invisibly’ decaying Higgs boson. Some of them have been used in the collider experiments and are being used currently by the experimental groups such as the CMS and the ATLAS at the LHC. Some are sure to be used at future colliders.
The INSPIRE-HEP data base contains 302 entries which are citable (published or ArXiv preprints/e resources). 165 out of the 302 are published in journals. Among the 165, 4 have citations more than 500, 3 have citations more than 250 and 12 are cited more than 100 times. The average citation for these is 56.4 and goes to 39 after excluding self cites of all the authors. The H-index is 48 and becomes 42 after removing the self cites for all the authors. The INSPIRE data base counts citations of a publication when it is still an arXiv preprint, citations in ArXiv preprints as well as in internal experimental documents. The latter are specific to High Energy Physics and are refereed very critically though not published in journals. Including all the 302 items, the above mentioned numbers go up even further.

The different sciento-metric indices from other data bases, such as Scopus and Web of Science, which only counts Citations of journal publications in journal publications, are different yet have a similar trend.

She has co-authored a text book on ’Phenomenology of supersummetric particles’ for Ph.D. students and researchers in area of High Energy Physics in January 2005. The book has had two editions, both paper back and hard cover. It was selected by the World Scientific Publishers as one of their significant titles in High Energy Physics in a poster they bought out for display at CERN to celebrate the 25 th Anniversary of World Scientific. Currently co-authoring a book on the Standard Model to be published by Cambridge University Press.

She has co-edited the INSA ‘Report on Science Career for Indian Women’, the first such recent study in India. She conceived and co-edited the book ’Lilavati’s Daughters: Women scientists of India’ containing biographical and autobiographical sketches of about 100 Indian women scientists, which was reviewed, for example, in Nature and Science. It was considered for reading lists of sociology courses at universities. She has also co-edited a book called ’A Girls Guide to Life in Science’ published by Zubaan, India, meant for girls making a choice of life in Science. She guided a survey ’What fraction of trained Scientific Woman Power are we losing and why?’ to understand reasons behind the dropout of women from a science career AFTER a doctorate, a serious issue in India.

Taught extensively at University of Mumbai at masters level, then at the Indian Institute of Science at the undergraduate, graduate and post graduate level. The last are special topic courses such as the one on Supersymmetry Phenomenology. Taught a special course “Supersymmetry: basic formalism and collider phenomenology”, at the University of Utrecht, during the tenure as a visiting professor. Being a popular lecturer in demand, she has also taught at various short duration schools in and out of India.

Invited to talk about particle physics at all levels: at a popular level to general public, at a simple level for students and at a higher technical level for scientists who are not particle physicists or perhaps not even physicists and of course at technical level to particle physicists themselves. Just to give an idea, in the two years since 2012 July, after the announcement of the new boson at the LHC, gave 24 popular talks and nine colloquia on the topic of the Higgs and LHC physics, to be added to it are 27 Technical invited talks on the subject of the Higgs boson, the Top quark and BSM Physics at the LHC!! To give a flavour,January 2020 to March 2022, essentially the entire period of Pandemic! The record is similar in the years before. Of course, then most of the lectures were offline.
